Mount Airy Shooting Investigation Still Underway

MOUNT AIRY, N.C. — Around 10:00 p.m. Sunday, Surry County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting call on Welcome Baptist Church Road in Mount Airy. When deputies and Mount Airy Police Department officers arrived to the scene, they found Roger Dollyhite with an apparent gunshot wound. Dollyhite, 80, was taken by Surry County Emergency Medical Services to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

After an in-depth investigation, detectives learned that shots were fired into the home, striking the victim. Deputies say this case is still an active investigation, with no additional details currently available.
