ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office has been alerted of a bomb threat affecting Alamance Burlington School System (ABSS). The District received an email this morning, from an unknown person, claiming that multiple explosives had been put in an unnamed school. The email did not mention any specific school.
ABSS has been told that other school districts across the state have also received similar threats over email. The ACSO believes this email came from an IP address not in North Carolina.
SROs have completed security sweeps in all 13 ABSS schools. The district says no suspicious devices have been found. Investigation with ACSO is still ongoing to help determine this threat's origin source. Nothing has confirmed any legitimacy to this threat as of this writing.
ABSS will give another update when further information becomes available.
